This golden hour family session in Northern California was taken mid-summer. Read on to see how beautiful an at-home session can be.

I had so much fun catching up with this precious family during this session in Northern California! We met at their beautiful home and got to do a family/maternity/3rd birthday shoot. It was a lot to get in in one hour, but we did it! We started with some classic family portraits, then headed to a wide-open hay field for some fun candid ones!

Little miss was so fun to watch run around in the field! My motto when photographing little ones is to LET. THEM. PLAY! Keeping everyone happy and carefree are one of my secrets to a great session. I love the little details and expressions that are a result of just a laid-back time.

It is so easy to snap a few maternity portraits during a family session since usually dad and kids need a break! I just loved both outfits that my client choose–she did such a great job! Capturing the last shoot before a family of three becomes a family of four is such an honor! There is something so special about that time.

Getting all of the various stages of family while it is growing is so interesting for future generations! The third birthday photos were my absolute favorite! The juxtaposition between the rusty tractor and the soft tulle on her tutu is just striking! She was so disciplined to wait for the cupcake until the end!

Photographing a balloon is always tricky with even the slightest breeze! We had dad help get it lined up right before the shot!

This Northern California Session was so refreshing to photograph. It was delightful to hang out with good people and create something beautiful for them!
